Twinkle Twinkle Little Shells
by Mrs. Wright's kindergarten class
The kids have lovingly worked on the project, adding colors and shapes to the shells. They've used acrylic paint and brushes to add color to the natural shells and strung them on a draft wood that was a native of Washington Lake. The jute twine adds another layer of bold and rawness to the art piece. When composed together, the vivid colors and abstract patterns are like vibrant woods, which makes any visitor feel relaxed and happy. This artwork is special to us because it represents the beautiful coastline and green interior of the Pacific Northwest. Twinkle Twinkle little shells, how I wonder where you from...

A Whimsical Underwater Journey
by Ms. Tenace's 2nd grade class
The main idea is to use colors and patterns to create an impactful, visually expressive artwork. By utilizing a variety of special Washi-Tape patterns (especially ones with traditional Japanese wagara patterns - Seigaiha, Same Komon, Kikko, Uroko and Sakura just to name a few), each underwater sea creature suddenly becomes more unique and colorful. This ‘Whimsical Underwater Journey’ symbolizes our classroom students, each with special talents, characteristics and cultural backgrounds.

Ocean Harmony
by Ms. Coomb's 3rd grade class
Each sea creature presents one individual in this classroom, including our students and teachers. The linoleum block is created and firsthand carved (100% original work) by our dedicated parent volunteers. Students then mixed colors and block printed this artwork, Ocean Harmony. The block printing technique is very suitable for creating sea creatures because it can showcase each sea animal’s beautiful, delicate patterns. Ocean Harmony has an undertone of blue color, which is the color that often associates with calmness, serenity, peace, and relaxation. It is our hope that we can all learn from these sea creatures, how they live in harmony and promote the same kind of harmonious living among us.
Materials: Linoleum, Printing Ink, Watercolor Paper
Size: 24" x 24"
